No. BioBreathe™ does not use artificial intelligence (AI).

AlcheMood’s Human-Centered Intelligence refers to our design philosophy: technology thoughtfully designed around the person using it.

BioBreathe uses purpose-built functionality and real-time biofeedback to create an experience that responds to your body while keeping you at the center of the interaction.

No generative AI or machine-learning models are used to power BioBreathe.

BioBreathe requires both a compatible Apple Watch and paired iPhone.

The Apple Watch app provides:

  • Guided breathing sessions
  • Live heart-rate-informed pacing
  • Haptic and optional musical cues
  • Post-session reflection choices

The iPhone app provides:

  • Session history
  • Personal reflection trends
  • Educational information
  • Scientific sources and methodology
  • Session-data management

BioBreathe™ by AlcheMood™ is a companion biofeedback and wellness app experience for Apple Watch and iPhone. It combines heart-rate-informed breathing guidance, Apple Watch haptics, optional musical cues, post-session reflection, and private session-history synchronization.

BioBreathe is intended for guided breathing, self-awareness, and personal reflection. It is not medical care and does not diagnose, treat, prevent, monitor, or cure any disease or medical condition.

Yes. For the most reliable BioBreathe companion experience, Bluetooth should be enabled on both the iPhone and Apple Watch.

The Apple Watch must already be paired with the iPhone through Apple’s Watch app. BioBreathe does not create a separate Bluetooth pairing.

Wi-Fi should also remain enabled when available. Apple Watch normally uses Bluetooth when the paired iPhone is nearby and may use a compatible Wi-Fi or cellular connection in other circumstances.

Learn about Apple Watch connectivity from Apple Support.

BioBreathe uses the existing Apple Watch and iPhone pairing established through Apple’s Watch app.

Before using BioBreathe:

  1. Open Settings → Bluetooth on the iPhone and confirm that Bluetooth is on.
  2. Confirm that Bluetooth is available on the Apple Watch.
  3. Make sure Airplane Mode is off on both devices.
  4. Keep the Apple Watch and iPhone near each other.
  5. Confirm that BioBreathe is installed on both devices.
  6. Open BioBreathe on the Apple Watch and iPhone after installation.

View Apple’s Apple Watch pairing instructions.

First, confirm that:

  • Bluetooth is enabled.
  • Wi-Fi is enabled.
  • Airplane Mode is off.
  • The Apple Watch is paired with the correct iPhone.
  • Both devices are close together.
  • BioBreathe is installed on both devices.
  • Both devices are unlocked and functioning normally.

Next, open BioBreathe on both devices and allow a short time for communication to resume.

If necessary, restart the Apple Watch and iPhone.

Yes. Once BioBreathe is installed and the required permissions have been granted, the guided breathing session runs on Apple Watch.

The iPhone app does not need to remain open during the breathing session. A completed session may synchronize after the Apple Watch and iPhone reconnect.

An active breathing session can run directly on Apple Watch without keeping the iPhone app open.

An internet connection may be needed for:

  • Installing or updating BioBreathe
  • Private iCloud synchronization
  • Opening scientific references
  • Opening the Johns Hopkins Medicine source
  • Restoring information after reinstalling the app

Try the following:

  1. Confirm that BioBreathe has permission to access heart-rate information.
  2. Wear the Apple Watch snugly and slightly above the wrist bone.
  3. Make sure the Apple Watch is unlocked and being worn.
  4. Confirm that Bluetooth is enabled and Airplane Mode is off.
  5. Allow a few moments for Apple Watch to obtain a current reading.
  6. Close and reopen BioBreathe if a reading still does not appear.
  7. Restart the Apple Watch and iPhone if necessary.

Apple Watch heart-rate readings may become available intermittently rather than every second.

Updates can be influenced by sensor contact, movement, device conditions, skin contact, and

Apple Watch measurement availability.

BioBreathe uses available readings as they become available during an active session.

During an active session, available live heart-rate readings from Apple Watch help inform the timing of BioBreathe’s haptic breathing guidance. Pacing may respond as recent heart-rate information becomes available.

BioBreathe’s heart-rate-informed pacing is AlcheMood’s proprietary wellness implementation. It does not perform a clinical resonance-frequency assessment, measure vagal tone, diagnose autonomic function, or determine the condition of the user’s nervous system.

No. Individual heart-rate measurements are used during the active breathing session and are not included in saved session records.

A saved session record includes:

  • Session date and time
  • Session duration
  • The post-session response selected by the user

Live heart-rate measurements are not included in saved session records.

After completing a session, the user may select the response that best describes how they feel:

  • More Activated
  • About the Same
  • More Settled

This is the user’s own subjective reflection. BioBreathe does not calculate or independently determine how the user feels.

The Nervous System Trend is a visual history of the user’s own post-session reflections.

It is not a physiological measurement or medical calculation.

Each dot represents one completed session:

  • The dot’s position represents the response selected by the user.
  • The dot’s color represents session duration only.
  • Warmer colors represent shorter sessions.
  • Cooler colors represent longer sessions, up to 20 minutes.

No. Dot color represents session duration only.

It does not represent:

  • Nervous-system state
  • Stress
  • Heart rate
  • Autonomic activity
  • Symptom severity
  • Regulation
  • Medical status

Synchronization may be delayed if the Apple Watch and iPhone temporarily lose their connection.

Try the following:

  1. Confirm that Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are enabled.
  2. Keep the Apple Watch and iPhone close together.
  3. Make sure Airplane Mode is off.
  4. Open BioBreathe on both devices.
  5. Allow a short time for the session to transfer.
  6. Confirm that the devices are connected to the appropriate Apple and iCloud accounts.
  7. Restart both devices if the session still does not appear.

BioBreathe queues completed Watch sessions for delivery when companion communication becomes available.

No. Musical sound cues are optional.

Users may follow BioBreathe’s haptic guidance with or without musical sound cues.

Changing the sound setting does not change the user’s saved session information or post-session response.

Check the Apple Watch volume and sound settings. The volume and clarity of audio can also be affected by the surrounding environment and the position of the Apple Watch speaker.

Haptic cues can still provide breathing-phase guidance when the musical cues are turned off.

Session history is stored locally and in the user’s private Apple iCloud database so it can remain available between app launches.

Session information is not shared with AlcheMood, a therapist, or another third party.

Yes. In the BioBreathe iPhone app, scroll to Manage Session Data and select Delete All Session Data.

This permanently deletes the session history from the device and the user’s private iCloud database. This action cannot be undone.

Individuals with cardiovascular, respiratory, neurological, or other health concerns should consult a qualified healthcare professional before using BioBreathe™ by AlcheMood™ or participating in any other activity involving guided breathing.

No. BioBreathe is intended solely for general wellness, guided breathing, self-awareness, and personal reflection.

It should not be used to make medical decisions or as a replacement for medical care, therapy, emergency assistance, or crisis support.

Breathe gently and comfortably. For diaphragmatic (belly) breathing, allow your abdomen to gently expand as you inhale and naturally fall as you exhale. Keep your shoulders, chest, and jaw relaxed.

Follow BioBreathe’s pacing as comfortably as you can, but never force, deepen, hold, or prolong your breath beyond what feels natural.

Stop the session if you experience:

  • Dizziness
  • Lightheadedness
  • Shortness of breath
  • Pain
  • Distress
  • Discomfort
